Fixing the Living Room Ceiling

I know.  I know.  It has taken me forever to get back to this.  I have a long, long list of excuses.  Like unpacking and getting everything just right for our first overnight guests (Julie, Steve, and Zoe) at Thanksgiving.  Travel for work (one week to Montreal, 9 days to California, overnight to Olney).  But truthfully, it is strictly a matter of timing.  Timing to get all the pictures taken, sent to my email. and saved to my laptop.  :)  Or just the Karen Grimsley in me.  You all know.

Anyway.

So I'm sure there are a few things we did, that I didn't get pictures of, like my bedroom door.  But you should be able to see it in some picture, in the next post or three.  This post is what we did the Sunday before Thanksiving.  We patched the ceiling in the living room where the kitchenette used to be.  Not as easy a job as we expected, but we laughed when I mis-remembered the measurements (drywall was too short).  Or things didn't line up exactly as we hoped with the existing joists.  But we got it done.

Can you see the holes in the floor?  Those were where the pipes for the plumbing and the gas stove were located.  We had a rug, and the chaise end of the sectional, over them.  They were patched, too.

The rug is still there, since we really haven't decided on flooring yet.  Nor are we ready for it.

We patched the hole in the side paneling, too, since we could.  It doesn't match at all, it runs sideways, but it covers the hole!

I would love to raise the ceiling, but this is part of the addition, and they didn't keep the same height.  :(

We will eventually do something different with those "tiles" but for now....
